HAPPY HELL

EXHIBITION, ART RESIDENCY

ハッピーヘル

Welcome to Happy Hell, a joyful celebration of an illustrator's inner demons.

Happy Hell is the result of Catherine Pearson’s month-long residency at Almost Perfect in Tokyo, a self-reflection on her journey so far as a creative.

After feeling exhausted by commercial projects, Catherine felt it was time to step back and reflect on her journey with this project. A joyous guided tour through her inner world, filled with the ups and downs of life living as an illustrator.

Inspired by the famous painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronymus Bosch and the Japanese art of Yōkai folklore (supernatural entities and spirits). "Happy Hell" combines all these inspirations, things she loves, lots of colors, personal quirks, and anecdotes that make her uniquely her.
